Welcome to AGE – our newly updated library of Acoustic Grand Ensembles – the most comprehensive collection of alternative ensembles ever done.
The New AGE (Acoustic Grand Ensembles) series is produced by Academy Award, TEC and G.A.N.G award-winning composer, Troels Folmann and Emmy nominated composer and orchestrator, Colin O’Malley. Recorded in the same signature hall as our CAGE, V8P and Legion Series, the sound of AGE is proudly unorthodox.
The New AGE Bundle contains nine custom grand ensembles including a Concert Harp Ensemble, Cimbalom Ensemble, Marimba Ensemble, Wind Chime Ensemble, Grand Piano Ensemble, Acoustic Guitar Ensemble, Tubular Bells Ensemble, Xylophone Ensemble, Glockenspiel Ensemble and various Synthesized elements. Each Ensemble comes with ten custom synths, derived from the source content and totalling ninety distinct sound sets. We also included forty Ambiences made by the great ambient sound designer, Steve Tavaglione. With various organic synths and complex ambiences, you will always be able to find the perfect sound to complement each of the Ensembles.
All Ensembles contain four carefully placed hall-based microphone perspectives to best capture the performance of these alternative ensembles (Close, Decca, Far, Wide), as well as a prepared stereo Mix. We also included up to seven Spot microphone positions to help bring out and isolate the unique character of each player. Each Ensemble is separated into two patches: ‘Main’ which includes the Mix, Close, Decca, Far and Wide positions, and ‘Spot’ which includes the Spot counterparts one through seven. So whether you need the grand sound of the full ensemble or the precise nuance of an individual player, we made sure to capture it all in extensive detail, giving you all the options you need to make these ensembles truly come to life.
We recorded each Ensemble in a variety of ways with careful consideration to capture the essence of each group of instruments. Although we recorded each with core articulations, such as Sustains, Staccato etc. some Ensembles also have unique articulations as well, for example, Glissandi, Clusters, Tremolo and FX.
Something magical happens when you take several Concert Masters, place them in a symphonic hall and follow the sound, test new articulations and push instruments to their absolute limits. They become new instruments all to their own. They become something much more than the sum of their parts, and we invite you to experience it all and experiment with us!
