The New Century Solo Brass Tuba overview

What is new in Century Brass 2.0?

Century Brass 2.0 is the largest- and most advanced upgrade to any library collection we have ever produced.  The 2.0 upgrade includes our new true polyphonic legato,  2 new microphone positions in natural orchestral seating, advanced articulation browsing, speed optimization and an additional Century Brass Lite scoring library for all owners of Century Brass Ensemble and Bundle.

The new true polyphonic legato is designed both for traditional dynamically layered legato and for our popular arcs.  You can literally play as many notes you want – whether it is a single melody with chords or playing the brass in octaves.  We call this “Chordal Legato”.  Our new advanced arc legato gives you the ability to play the arcs with true polyphony, while following the natural emotion and movement of the arc.  We call this Poly-Time Legato.

Century Brass 2.0 also includes two custom-made “in place” microphone mixes, with instruments situated in a traditional orchestral seating position. We expect the majority of our users will gravitate to using these new mixes for most purposes. Mix A is a focused scoring stage, whereas Mix B is bigger sounding and designed for large-scale, blockbuster mixing. The various mix options on different instruments can help increase the separation in your sound, which is a great way to bring specific instruments into the forefront of your productions. We have also optimized the entire library, allowing for more advanced features and superior performance on a variety of workstations. The entire Century Brass Collection now features our latest Chaos Effects, allowing you to customize the signal path and post-processing with over 140 impulse responses, stereo delays, EQ and much more.

Century Brass 2.0 General Description:

Century Brass Series now stands as the definitive state-of-the-art collection of ultra-realistic brass instruments. Our most significant leap forward in orchestral deep-sampling. Infused with emotion and intention in every sample.

Effortless and playable beyond words the 8Dio Century Orchestral Series is produced by long-time Academy Award, Emmy Nominated, T.E.C and G.A.N.G Award winning producers, Colin O’Malley and Troels Folmann

The shell of Century Ensemble Brass is our custom-designed user-interface, offering virtually every option to express yourself. All simple. All one page.

Inside the shell, you will find the secret to Century Ensemble Brass. An exquisite collection of luxury virtual instruments – specifically designed for high-end, emotional realism. The Century Brass Sessions took place over two years, with selectively hand-picked players from all across Europe. Over 700 hours of session/recording time and only lord knows how many sessions, retakes, and even further retakes.

Century Orchestral Brass was derived from several new recording and sampling techniques. All the legatos are not only layered in dynamics, but we created new programs that offer you a completely smooth transition. So when you need to take your Ensemble Horn from Piano to Fortissimo – just do it – and it works effortlessly, and wit the recent Century 2.0 update, you now have even more control with True Polyphonic Legatos. We also recorded a wealth of different short notes. There is so much more than the typical staccatos and marcatos. We recorded unique fanfare oriented short notes – with more bite and tension and more traditional articulations at multiple lengths. More arcs then you could dream of. But, of course all arcs are now dynamically layered and recorded at multiple lengths and feature true polyphonic legato.

Century Orchestral Brass is not a sample library to us. It is a truly emotional and realistic collection that is an ever-evolving, incredibly deep-sampled brass instruments. It can be anything you want it to be. The softest skin you ever touched, the thunderous end of a world, It can be subtle, it can be Forte, but it will always be lyrical.

Orchestral Brass. True Emotion

The heart of Century Orchestral Brass is its hyper-realistic sound, playability, and emotion. Every instrument has a unique character and wide dynamic profile. You can easily weave in and out of dynamics from the softest whisper to the loudest thunder. Century Orchestral Brass comes with our custom built-in browser system. The browser offers you access to every articulation with the click of a mouse. But perhaps most importantly, it all just works. This is why Century Orchestral Brass took over 5 years to complete. No stones unturned. No expense spared.

True Polyphonic Legato. Seamless Expression

Century Brass sets a new standard for legato sampling. Casting sessions were held, and we hand-picked the best brass players from all across Europe – not just a single country. We created new sampling techniques – allowing us to record the instruments more dynamically. The end-result offers you the ability to move between dynamics freely. The sound is truly authentic, dynamic and lyrical. All the instruments have personality, designed to move you,  designed to move your audience. Infused with personality. Effortless Playability.

Short Note Abundance

Century Orchestral Brass contains the most advanced set of dynamic short-notes available. Gone are the days of just staccato, marcato and sustains. We even divided the short notes into different categories. Maybe you want soaring marcato trumpets with slight vibrato? Maybe you want double or even triple tongue for a Williams inspired action sequence. Maybe you want further speed control over those? Or could you be looking for something more gentle? Pastoral, noble and soft short notes. And did we mention speed control? I’m sure we did.

5 Microphone Arrays

Century Brass 2.0 now includes two new microphone mixes with each instrument placed in traditional orchestral seating. Mix A includes a Tight Studio Mix, and the B Mix includes a Full-bodied Decca Mix. We also give you full control to create your own custom stereo and 5.1 mixes using the original trio of microphones ‘Close, Decca, and Wide.’ Everything is offered in a singular, easy, but advanced environment, instant access to all 5 microphone arrays, and access to all articulations are all but a click away.

Modular Century

Our Century Brass collection is specifically designed as modular libraries. Everything is designed to work together. All the Century libraries were recorded in the same hall and with identical microphone setups and core articulations. This way, you can build your own modular ensembles by combining both Solo and Ensemble Brass. You have the choice to specifically design your ensembles, whether it is designing a 1-10 Piece Trumpet Ensemble or 1-19 Horn Ensemble. Whether it’s an intimate section of Solo Brass – augmented with a Dual Horn. Or whether you just want to go all-out epic and use every available section. Century offers it all. The perfect modular experience.

We have now updated our flagship Brass series with a variety of enhancements to the internal mapping, patch variations and all-new mixes along with many other general improvements.

Century Brass 2.0 now includes two tailor-made “in place” mixes, with instruments situated in a traditional orchestral seating position. We expect the majority of our users will gravitate to using these new mixes for most purposes. Mix A is a focused balance, whereas Mix B is broader and more ambient. Using varied mix options on different instruments can help increase the separation in your sound, which is a great way to bring specific instruments into the forefront of your productions.

We have also optimized the entire library, allowing for more advanced features and superior performance on a variety of workstations. The entire Century Brass Collection now features our latest Chaos Effects, allowing you to customize the signal path and post-processing with over 140 impulse responses, stereo delays, EQ and much more.

This latest update also includes individually available articulations as well as several extended options, such as our “Poly-Time” articulations. These allow you to play Arcs at a speed that suits your composition, as well as fluently play these articulations in a legato style. We have also included our popular “Chordal” legato instrument variant, which features a true polyphonic legato with accurately sampled intervals, enabling you to play multiple harmonies within a single track.
