Requiem Professional overview

REQUIEM PROFESSIONAL VST is the next-generation virtual choir developed for professional composers featuring 3 microphone positions (5.1 compatible), full ensemble, divisi male/female and 5 solo singers. The solo singers have four microphone positions, including a new Close Microphone.

The library is based on a variety of new recording- and sampling techniques some which have never before been deployed in choral sample libraries. The library can literally sound like a real choir and includes both full choir (SATB), divisi groups (males/females) and solo singers – all recorded in 24 bit / 44.1khz with 3 (5.1) microphone positions. The library contains true (polyphonic) legato intervals from piano to forte, sustains from piano to forte, staccato with repetitions, ultra forte marcato, BPM (host-synced) based latin chants recorded at different speeds across entire interval of choir, +1000 choral effects including whispers, shouts, clusters, demonic chants, sweeps, consonants without tone, claps, snaps and over +50 different types of effects.

REQUIEM PROFESSIONAL was recorded in one of the most famous cathedrals in San Francisco and has the natural sound and acoustics of this world-class stage.

4 Microphones

Requiem Professional contains up to four different microphone positions. You have three core microphone positions, including Close Stage, Mid and Far. This combination allows you to render true surround (5.1) mixes and control the exact placement of the choir in the Cathedral. We also added a fourth Close Spot Microphone for the solo singers, so you can get a complete near-field position of the solo singer – allowing you to render it in front of the full choir.

5 Solo Singers

Requiem Professional contains 5 different world-class solo singers, including two different sopranos, alto, tenor and bass soloists. All of the soloist are singing identical articulations, so you can create advanced harmonies by mixing them. The Solo Singers also come with a unique 4th spot microphone position – allowing you to render them in front of the general choir. We also created a highly flexible system that allows you to blend between articulations in real-time using x-fade principles.

1000s of Choral Effects

Requiem Professional contains the most comprehensive effects section ever sampled, including over 1.800 different FX samples. The choral effects allows you to do incredible things with the choir, including assorted body percussion (ex. stomp, clap, teeth-clack, whispers, rain-claps, thunder fx etc), deep-sampled consonant sounds (ex. s, k, w, pff, hhh, ch, mmm, phh, prrr, zzz, zhh etc), sweeps, numbers, trills, ambiences, glissandos, shrill and gender separated effects.

True Legato

Requiem Professional contains a gorgeous deep-sampled selection of true legato sustains, which are completely smooth and life-like. The true legatos come in three main articulation groups: “Ah”, “Eh” and “Oh” and with each of them with smooth dynamic x-fade controls. The true legatos are also designed to be used in conjunction with the Requiem multi-vowels / poly-sustains and used in combination you can create completely realistic choral pieces.

Built-In FX

Requiem Professional also come with a gorgeous set of built-in effects. We added Delay, Amp/Screamer Emulations, Lo-Fi (Bit-Crusher), Fuzz, Rotator and two different types of convolution reverbs. The first convolution reverb contains a variety of custom natural space we’ve recorded over time. This includes some of our favorite recording environments in churches and cathedrals. The second convolution reverb contains a large selection of more experimental convolution shots – great if you want to sound design the choir.

Multi-Vowels / Poly-Sustains

The Requiem Professional Poly-Sustains is one of the most important and unique aspects to the library. We created poly-sustains for both the entire choir and solo singers. The Requiem Choir contains no less then 24 different latin poly-sustain variations for slow styles of music and another 20 different poly-sustains for faster styles of music. You even get the ability to separate the poly-sustains in females and male sections for hyper-realistic choral renditions.

Requiem Professional comes with an enormous phrase-builder that allows you to sculpt advanced words and phrases together. The phrase-builder can be used on both the dozens of multi-vowels / poly-sustains, but we also applied it to our staccato and marcato articulations. The staccato contains 21 one different words (ex. Ah, Cre, Cru, Do, Fah, Fis, Glo, Ky, La, Mus, Sanc, Tus etc) and the marcato contains 16 different longer words in epic fortissimo (ex. Ah, Cre, Cru, Do, Fah, Fis, Glo, Ky, La, Mus, Sanc, Tus etc).
