Percussion Ensembles. Reimagined
Welcome to AGE: Acoustic Grand Ensembles, the most comprehensive collection of alternative ensembles ever recorded.
The AGE Series contains nine custom grand ensembles: 4 Concert Harps, 5 Cimbaloms, 5 Marimbas, 6 Wind Chimes, 4 Grand Pianos, 7 Acoustic Guitars, 4 Tubular Bells, 5 Xylophones, 5 Glockenspiels, as well as 90 custom synths and 40 Ambiences.
Something magical happens when you take several Concert Masters, place them in a symphonic hall and follow the sound. We experimented with new articulations and pushed the instruments to their limits in order to create truly unique sounds. These grand ensembles became new instruments in their own right! They became more than the sum of their parts: one-of-a-kind ensembles with familiar sounds brought into a totally new dimension. And we are thrilled to be able to share these special sounds with you!
Volume 1 includes 5 Ensembles: 4 Grand Pianos, 7 Guitars, 4 Tubular Bells, 5 Xylophones & 5 Glockenspiels. Each ensemble takes the sound of the solo instrument and transforms it: 5 Glockenspiels doesn’t just sound like 5 individual instruments, but like a broad, gentle, ethereal set of bells. Each ensemble has a special and unique character, and each ensemble has a set of 10 custom synths.
Volume 2 includes 4 Ensembles: 4 Harps, 5 Cimbaloms, 5 Marimbas & 6 Wind Chimes (Mark Trees). Each ensemble includes 10 custom synths as well as 10 custom ambiences designed by Steve Tavaglione. Each ensemble has a unique character compared to the solo instrument. For instance, the Cimbalom ensemble has a commanding yet mysterious tone, while the wind chimes are magical and aethereal beyond what we thought was possible.
All 9 Ensembles contain four carefully placed hall-based microphone perspectives (Close, Decca, Far, Wide), as well as a prepared stereo Mix. We also included up to seven Spot microphone positions to help bring out and isolate the unique character of each player. Each Ensemble is separated into two patches: the main patch includes the hall-based microphones and the Spot patch includes the Spot microphones. Whether you need the grand sound of the full ensemble or the precise nuance of an individual player, we made sure to capture it all in extensive detail, giving you all the options you need to make these ensembles truly come to life.
We recorded each Ensemble in a variety of ways with careful consideration to capture the essence of each group of instruments, including core articulations (such as Sustains, Staccato, and so on), and unique articulations for some ensembles (for example, Glissandi, Clusters, Tremolo and effects).

Flexibility & Control
The AGE UI features a wealth of easily accessible effects and options. The Main controls include a footer for quick access to key features like Attack, Release, Speed, Response, Stereo Spread and Filter. Each instrument can also quickly be flipped on its head by using the available Reverse, Chaos, and Stack options. The X/Y Pads available in the Effects tab offer a new way to control a range of built-in effect processes.
Superior Mixing
Each ensemble contains up to 12 different microphone perspectives. Each is divided into 5 Ensemble perspectives (Mix, Close, Decca, Far, Wide) and 3-7 Spot perspectives (one per player). The flexibility of the mic positions allows you to dial in the perfect sound for your production. AGE also comes with a wealth of convolution presets!
Custom Synths
The AGE Bundle contains set of 90 custom, multi-sampled synthetic instruments and 40 custom Ambiences by Steve Tavaglione. All of these sounds were derived from the AGE source content and augment the sounds of the ensembles beautifully. The distinct sounds can be easily used in a wide range of styles.
