Studio Percussion Auxiliary – for Kontakt VST-AU-AAX Samples overview

Studio Percussion Auxiliary was created by Academy Award, TEC and G.A.N.G Award Winning Composer, Troels Folmann and stands as the most advanced collection of auxiliary percussion ever created. The library contains over 54GB of all new material.

Studio Percussion Auxiliary is using a new advanced technique called, Groove Sampling™  that allows you to create hyper-realistic percussive grooves with a single touch of a key. Groove Sampling is a proprietary method developed by 8Dio and is currently patent pending. There is no going back after this.

Studio Percussion Auxiliary contains 72 different instruments and 3 microphone positions that are all easy-accessed from our built-in browser. The instruments cover a wide range of auxiliary percussion (ex. Congas, Bongos, Cowbells, Shakers, Maracas) to ethnic percussion (ex. Frame Drums, Timbales, Darbuka, Udu, Djembe, Doumbek, Cajon). You also have full drum kits with a large assortment of snares, bass drums, hi-hats and 11 cymbals. In addition we included some traditional orchestral instruments (ex. Concert Bass Drum, Timpanys, 6 different Tubular Bells etc) and many other instruments.

The majority of instruments in Aura Studio Percussion were also recorded with two different types of mallets, sticks and brushes. So imagine playing a massive Concert Bass Drum with brushes or Bongos with sticks – or maybe you want to play the Doumbek with brushes, while creating another part with brushed Tubular Bells. The ability to choose mallets really widens the usability of the library, especially in regards to cinematic scoring – there is something wicked about brushed timpanys.

Studio Percussion Auxiliary also contains a large assortment of ensemble kits, so you can play larger assortments of different instruments at the same time. We’ve included 8 full drum kits in different styles (ex. Pop, Rock, Funk), 2 Ethnic Kits, 8 Tonal Kits and 7 Cinematic Ensemble Kits, including Deep Kits, Epic Kits, Shakers and Cymbal Kits etc.

Studio Percussion Auxiliary contains 3 microphone positions (Close, Mid, Room) that each have a very distinct sound. We’ve also included a new dual layered FX system. The first part is our front-face FX system that gives you control over dynamics, filters, pitch and micro-pitch, delay, bit-resolution and our new textural convolution delay. The new textural delay allows you to take over 130 new convolutions and use them as delay components, so the instrument will delay other sounds than just itself. We’ve also included our new Chaos FX 3.4 engine, which gives you a large control over things such as EQ, Step-Based Filter, Distortion, Stereo-Delay and an additional convolution reverb.

It has always been our mantra to push sampling forward in regards to realism and playability.Studio Percussion Auxiliary is the first of several to utilize our proprietary Groove Sampling™ method and we really think it is going to make compositions richer and easier to create.

Note: This library was previously called Aura Studio Percussion.

New Groove Sampling™

The core of Aura Studio Percussion revolves around our new and patent pending Groove Sampling techniques™. Groove Sampling allows you to play any of the 72 instruments with ultra-realistic sound and precision. All patches come with traditional multi-samples and new groove samples, so you can play and mix them side by side. The Groove Samples can either be controlled on your modwheel or via our new Mod-Sequencer. You will never go back after trying them.

Internal Browser

Aura Studio Percussion comes with a built-in browser environment, so no more loading files for everything you want to try. You have everything right at your finger tips and the ability to select any of our 72 instruments with a single click. The browser consists of our main instrument groups (ex. snares) and then a sub-group which contains all the individual instruments (ex. 8 different snares, 11 different cymbals, 5 toms, 4 cowbells, 6 tubular bells etc).

Textural Convolution Delay

Textural Convolution Delay is a new way of using convolution to create textural delays. The idea is to use non-conventional convolution impulses to augment the existing sound. So when the instrument delays – you will not just get a normal delay of the instrument, but also get the delay and texture of the convolution. This concept is called Textural Convolutions and we hand-crafted over 130 new impulses for the Aura Studio Percussion. The Textural Convolutions can also be randomized.

New Front-Faced FX and Chaos 3.4 FX

Aura Studio Percussion contains two parallel FX systems. The first one is our new Front-Faced FX, which allows you to control the most fundamental effects from the front panel (ex. Dynamics, Filters, Pitch, Delay, Crusher and our new Textural Delay). You can also go deeper with our new Chaos 3.4 FX system, which includes Step-Based Filter, EQ, Bit-Crusher, Distortion, Dual Stereo-Delay and an additional convolution system on top of our custom Textural Convolution Delays.
